Matthew MacLean

Dr. MacLean is presently employed at CUBRC developing CFD and related numerical capabilities to validate and support Large Energy National Shock Tunnel (LENS) reflected shock and expansion tunnel facilities. His interests are Navier-Stokes simulation of 2D and 3D chemically-reacting flows with thermal and chemical non-equilibrium applications. He has been involved in test programs that include numerical simulation, design of experiment, and comparison with measurements over the Space Shuttle STS orbiter, the Orion reentry capsule, Mars Science Laboratory (MSL), HyFly, X-51, the HIFiRE flight test series, as well as several scramjet development programs including the HyCAUSE international flight test program. Dr. MacLean graduated with BS/MS from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1999 and with a PhD from Virginia Tech in 2002.
