Sharon Cobb

Dr. Sharon Cobb serves as the Assistant Program Manager for the Space Launch System (SLS) office, located at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. Bringing both management and technical expertise to this position, she assists in planning, directing, and coordinating myriad details for the research, design, and development of America’s next heavy-lift launch vehicle for the human and scientific exploration of space beyond Earth’s orbit. Before this assignment, Dr. Cobb managed Marshall’s External Relations Office, serving as the principle liaison for a variety of high-level partnerships and alliances through the Office of Strategic Analysis and Communications. She also has served as a Congressional Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives, was the Deputy Manager for Marshall’s New Projects and Partnerships Office, and served as a senior research scientist, where she conducted pioneering studies on the effects of reduced gravity processing on a variety of complex semiconductor materials. Dr. Cobb holds a B.S. and M.S. in Materials Engineering from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida.
